Let me start by explaining that title, reality doesn't equal life. Let me give you an example just to clear things up.
Reality: My wife has Type 1 Diabetes.
Life: Will be short for her.
Reality + Diabetes = Decline of Health
The equation matches, however, don't mistake that for me giving up on her or life. I would never do such a thing. She weighs 130lbs soaking wet, she's sick all the time but at the same time nothing stops her, she doesn't let it get her down. For that, I respect her more than anyone will ever know. I just feel it is a travesty that she may never be cured; her life may be cut short because of someone else's morals. President Bush, other politicians and high rollers don't want stem cell research and other 'controversial' research to be furthered. There are so many reasons as to why this is going to happen.
Theory 1: The Bible-Thumper Theory.
It has always been my belief that church and state are supposed to be separated. However, it was allowed for that monkey-faced moron George 'Dubya' Bush to limit stem-cell research. Your religion doesn't matter to me, you're the president and in my opinion you should have a NON-BIASED view on this. Just because you feel it's against gods will to work with embryos that aren't even sentient yet doesn't mean I feel the same way. I don't care if it hurts your delicate sensibilities. My wife and the lives of countless others are at stake.
Theory 2: Money Makes the World go Round.
Large pharmaceutical companies don't want cures, they want revenue and money. I’m sure there’s a way to cure diabetics without forcing them to take your drugs for the rest of their lives. There’s a solution out there but we’re being limited because of money and politics. Some say that people in power get their palms greased to keep things under wraps. I have no clue if that’s the truth but I know that money is the great equalizer.
There are so many other theories but here is what matters. My wife and I may never get to realize our dreams. We want to see more of the world. Ireland, Egypt, Alaskan Cruises! Money is always tight when you have to pay for diabetic supplies and medicine, doctors’ bills and everything else guarantee that we are not going to have the money to do what we want to do. Taxes, bills, poverty that is all reality and reality isn’t life.
